Your first appointment with your counsellor will be your consultation appointment. This is where your counselling therapist will establish your contact details, presenting issues and availability. This is your opportunity to discuss the areas that you would like support in, and find out further information about how counselling can support you and what to expect from your experience. You will also have the opportunity to ask your counsellor any questions and to decide whether you feel open to working with your counsellor.
If you decide to start your counselling journey with your counsellor, you both will agree a time and date for your first session. Your first session will be a chance for you to discuss with your counsellor the counselling agreement, number of sessions, boundaries, your presenting issues in more detail.
